This stunning sculpture would be a perfect centrepiece, with its elegant fluid lines. It’s the biggest and most impressive piece we have from Charles at present.
Charles is a recent addition to Shona Sculpture Gallery’s selection of contemporary Zimbabwean sculptors. We were very impressed with the sleek fluidity of his work, coupled with excellent finishing.
Springstone is a hard variety of serpentine stone. Charles has sanded the stone, then heated and waxed it with clear wax to bring out the natural colour of the stone. The green lines are veins in the stone – they are natural and not cracks or lines of weakness.
Springstone is very hard and impermeable. As a result, it is naturally frost-resistant and can be displayed outdoors – even in temperate climates.
