Zimbabwean artist Lovemore Bonjisi with one of his sculptures

Lovemore Bonjisi

“One morning when she comes from bathing, she looked so so beautiful.”

This elegant feminine sculpture, imbued with graceful movement, celebrates the female form. You can see how Lovemore is full of admiration for her beauty.

Lovemore is well known for his exquisite sculptures of women. He sculpts the features of her face with a few deft lines, and captures the drape of the cloth with confidence and precision.

Lovemore has used a single solid piece of springstone, and the different colours come from different finishing techniques. He has sanded and then waxed the face and body with clear wax to bring out the natural colour of the stone. By contrast, the cloth has only been sanded.

Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. Since it is impermeable, it is suitable for outdoor display, even in temperate climates. It would grace any garden or large interior space, and would be a perfect focal point.

Imperial measurements are:
59 1/4″ (h) x 17″ (w) x 11 3/8″ (d) and 286 1/2lbs.

Overseas shipping is from Zimbabwe via air or sea freight; if you’d like a quote, please email us giving your nearest airport and/or sea port along with your contact details.

Unsurprisingly, freight from Zimbabwe can be expensive. Therefore, as a rough guideline, we would advise you budget around at least another $2,000 for the additional shipping costs.
