Huge presence and monumental scale from Rufaro Murenza, one of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture’s most talented artists. This stunning sculpture is by far the tallest piece we have ever had from Rufaro. It’s his finest work to date, and we’re delighted to have it here at the gallery. It would make a wonderful garden centrepiece, as it has a real wow factor!

Rufaro trained under acclaimed sculptor Joe Mutasa and his work is crisp and beautifully detailed. Unsurprisingly, he has received national acclaim for his creativity, as a winner and frequent runner-up of the National Arts Merit Award for sculpture.

Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. The sculpture is a single solid piece of stone where different sculpting techniques produce the different colours and textures.
